The Apple iWatch is not due out until sometime in spring, yet developers are already bull rushing into the space. Marketers and advertisers are currently experimenting with the iWatch SDK, also known to developers as the WatchKit, so that their apps will be available for download the moment the iWatch is released. According to the CEO of inMarket, Todd Dipaola, the company has “built the integration (for the iWatch) ahead of the debut so on day one – as the Apple Watch comes out – these apps can be ready for prime time.”
inMarket in particular has made waves this week with the announcement that they will be partnering with Marsh Supermarkets to launch a new iBeacon platform throughout its 78 supermarket locations. Marsh Supermarkets has a significant retail (grocery) market share throughout Central Indiana and Ohio.
inMarket created a shopping list app back in 2010 and has since been popular because of its ease of use. It has a 4.5 star average rating in the Apple App Store. The plan is to beam hyper-relevant information to consumers who have grocery lists saved within ListEase; making recommendations, displaying offers on items in their list, as well as recipe suggestions. Additionally, Marsh will also advertise their offers using the iBeacons placed in their stores through List Ease and their own app.
