Bookatable Tests iBeacon in London
Europe’s largest online restaurant reservation platform, Bookatable, is currently testing iBeacon at 119 restaurants in London.
The beacons will be used to send offers and menus to potential diners that have the Bookatable app on their smartphone as they pass by participating locations. The pilot is taking place at restaurants participating in the London Restaurant Festival – and will be expanded to include additional locations later on.
The beacon pilot is part of a partnership with American Express. For our London readers, you can check out the iBeacon experience at these select restaurants; Ping Pong, Spaghetti House, Villandry, Oxo Tower, Thai Square and STK London.

Great post. Today’s consumers consider being connected as a crucial utility and have learned to expect almost all facets of their restaurant dining experience be accessible to them through their personal mobile devices. Therefore, it is no surprise that Bookatable is planning to expand it services to 119 restaurants in UK. And another important thing to note is that, though beacons are popularly known for proximity marketing, there is more to them. For example, restaurants can use beacons to reduce wait time by offering an order-ahead feature. We’ve compiled a checklist on 3 other ways restaurants can use beacons to offer meaningful interactions with their customers here: http://blog.beaconstac.com/how-beacons-can-help-enhance-restaurant-dining-experience/
